7/23 - Alps from a Plane
I spent most of today on a plane flying from Amsterdam to Nairobi. The best part was that there were so few clouds for most of the day that we had a great view of the lands we were traveling over. In this picture: The eastern end of the Alps, in Austria, south of Salzburg.
Another view of the Alps
North coast of Crete, looking east
Mountains and lakes in Crete
Our first glimpse of Africa! This is the north coast of Egypt, west of Alexandria We did not fly east enough to go over the pyramids
West of Cairo, there's a large area that looks as though it one had water in it Here's the "shoreline" with many layers of sand Beautiful
We're a few hundred miles into Egypt, now - almost to Sudan And it's nothing but sand, sand, and more sand But isn't this sand pattern pretty? Another place that looks like it was shaped by long-ago water
